Frequently Asked Questions
How do I schedule an appointment?
You can reach me by phone: (313) 451-0305, email: chrysalistherapyinfo@gmail.com, or by filling out the contact form on this site.
Where do you provide services?
The office is located at 628 E Parent Ave Royal Oak, MI 48067. I also provide virtual therapy sessions to Michigan residents using a secure, HIPAA compliant portal.
Do you take insurance?
Yes, I am in network with most major insurance companies. Many companies also offer out-of-network benefits. If you’d like to verify coverage, I recommend calling your insurance provider to ask about your mental health benefits. If you do not have insurance coverage, a self-pay arrangement can be made.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Credit/debit cards and HSA/FSA are accepted forms of payment. Payment is due at the time of service. A valid form of payment will be stored on file for your convenience and efficiency in the billing process.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can be beneficial if you’re facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, past trauma, life transitions, relationship struggles, or other situations in which you need support to manage emotionally. If you are unsure, we can discuss your needs in a consultation.
What happens in the first session?
The intake appointment is an opportunity for us to begin to get to know each other. I’ll ask about your background, current concerns, and goals for therapy. This helps me tailor our work to best support you.
How long are sessions, and how often should I attend?
Sessions are typically 50 minutes. I recommend starting with weekly sessions to get a good momentum and to develop a working relationship that is comfortable for you. From there we can adjust the frequency to meet your needs.
How long will I need therapy?
The length of treatment varies for each person. Some people benefit from short-term support, while others find ongoing therapy helpful. We’ll regularly check in on your progress to determine your needs.
What is EMDR? Is it required?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based (proven) therapy that helps people process and heal from distressing memories, trauma, and negative beliefs. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to help the brain process painful experiences, reducing their emotional intensity. Because treatment is tailored to the individual EMDR is never required, and is always a collaborative decision.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require at least 24 hours notice for cancellations. Late cancellations or missed appointments may incur a fee.
